Following the ongoing Pandemic, all East African countries had closed entry borders and suspended flights in March. The good news to all travelers is that Kenya, Uganda, Rwanda and Tanzania are now welcoming visitors with all major National Parks open and functioning. Below are guidelines to safari travel across Uganda Kenya and Rwanda.

Uganda Covid 19 Travel Guidelines

Entebbe International Airport re-opened on 1 October 2020. Land borders have also re-opened. New COVID-19 standard operating procedures (SOPs) are in place for arriving and departing passengers.

On arrival at Entebbe International Airport and at land border crossings, you will need to provide a negative COVID-19 test certificate issued no more than 72 hours counted from the time you receive the test results with Screening ,Temperature checks at the airport and No Quarantine. Airlines have been directed not to allow passengers without a negative test certificate to travel. Foreign national passengers who arrive without a valid negative test certificate will be denied entry. Infants aged three and under are exempt as long as the accompanying parents have a negative test certificate.

72 Hours Covid 19 Certificate

We always advise our clients who can not make the 72 hours of arrival to ask their Laboratories / Hospitals if they can email them the results on the day of departure then print the certificate. The date of issue on the certificate should be the day you depart to be able to arrive at Entebbe International Airport with a valid certificate with in the 72 hours

Testing/ Screening On Departure

Departing passengers are required to present a negative COVID-19 PCR test certificate, issued no more than 72 hours before travel. The 72 hours begins on the day the sample is collected for testing.

Departing passengers will be required to wear a face mask inside the terminal and will be subject to temperature checks. Social distancing will also be in place and only passengers with valid tickets and airport officials will be allowed into the terminal building. Passengers are advised to arrive at the airport at least 4 hours before departure.

Passengers travelling on flights departing during curfew hours (9pm to 6am) will be allowed to travel to the airport upon presentation of a valid ticket.

Regular Requirements To Visit Uganda

Visa

You will need a visa to enter Uganda and the Ugandan visa can be applied online or you can possibly apply for it on arrival at Entebbe International Airport.

Passport Validity

Your passport should be valid for a minimum period of 6 months from the date of entry into Uganda.

Yellow Fever Certificate

A yellow fever certificate is required for all travelers aged 1 year and above entering Uganda.


Kenya Covid 19 Travel Guidelines

The Kenyan Ministry of Foreign Affairs have advised that:

Arrival:

You will be required to present a negative PCR COVID test applicable to both Adults and children that was administered within 96 hours (4 days) prior to arrival into Kenya. You will also require a health surveillance form to be completed following receipt of your negative test results prior to departing to Kenya which can be found here: https://ears.health.go.ke/airline_registration/ 

Upon filling the Health surveillance form, you will receive QR codes that will be required on check-in transit and arrival at the airport. After this verification you are free to start your safari in Kenya (no quarantine is applied)

Departure:

You will be required a negative PCR COVID Test that was administered within 96 hours (4 days) before your departure, I have scheduled an appropriate time to have this test taken on your travel itinerary

Regular Entry Requirements to Kenya

Visa

You need a visa to enter Kenya. You can only acquire with online application before your travel. To apply; follow link http://evisa.go.ke/evisa.html

Passport Validity

Your passport should be valid for a minimum period of 6 months from the date of entry into Kenya. Make sure you have two blank pages in your passport on arrival.

Yellow Fever Certificate

You may need a yellow fever certificate when entering Kenya from certain destinations. Check whether you need a yellow fever certificate by visiting the National Travel Health Network and Centre’s


Rwanda Covid 19 Travel Guidelines

Kigali International Airport reopened on1 August 2020. All arrivals must present a negative COVID-19 PCR test result taken within 72 hours of departure.

Quarantine

After providing proof of a negative COVID-19 PCR test valid 72 hours from the time it was taken you will undertake a second Covid test upon arrival then followed with quarantine at a designated hotel until your results are out. The test will cost 50USD. If the results are negative you are free to leave quarantine. If the results are positive, you will be kept at a government treatment facility.

Visa

You need a visa to enter Rwanda. by applying and paying online or upon arrival at the Airport.

Your passport should be valid for at least 6 months from the date of entry into Rwanda. You will need one blank page on your passport for entry stamps
