The Major highlight is the calving season in Serengeti which sees about 8000 wildebeest calves being born in a single day. Predator hunts are also very common during this time of the year since the herds are highly vulnerable which makes it hard for them to defend themselves. May and April are not poor months to visit on this 3 Day Serengeti Safari since these months are characterized as wet months with heavy rains.

Serengeti National Park Brief History

The Serengeti first gained protected status after American explorer Stuart white and his companions recorded in stayed in the Serengeti in the 1920s. They shot and killed so many lions that the British colonial administration came in and protected, more than eight hundred acres as a game reserve. These actions eventually led to the creation of the National Park in 1951. Visitors are lucky to see all of the big cat species on their first day which gives you a clear scope of how abundantly blessed these vast plains are.

Itinerary

Early in the morning we will depart to Southern Serengeti National Park from your booked accommodation in Arusha/Lake Manyara/ Kilimanjaro/ Mwanaza/ Airport. We take the scenic route to the Southern Serengeti passing along the rim of the Ngorongoro Crater. Serengeti is one of the Seven Natural wonders of Africa; it also features spectacular Wildebeest Migration and is home to all the big predators. You will have the opportunity for afternoon game drive in Ndutu area while enjoying an appetizing picnic lunch on umbrella acacia trees (small shade in a generally flat area). We will resume our journey and progress further into the Center Serengeti for a game drive. When the game drive is completed you will proceed to the Center Serengeti Serona area for dinner and overnight stay.

The day will begin in the central Serengeti where you will have an opportunity for morning game drive. Lunch will be served in the park before we proceed to the Ngorongoro Crater. The Ngorongoro Crater has a diverse ecological system that includes lions, leopards, elephants, cheetahs, buffaloes, zebras, wildebeest, elands, gazelles, giraffe, zebras, monkeys, baboons, hippos, rhinos and antelopes. There are migrant birds from Europe, Asia and African birds such as vultures, storks and flamingos. Majority of the plantation can be described as luscious and green but there are species of desert plants. The probability of what species you are likely to see all depends on the time of year and the migration of the herds. We will drive to the rim of the crater in the late afternoon and spend the night at your booked accommodation

We will have an early morning departure from camp to ensure that we arrive at the Ngorongoro Crater descend gate promptly. We will descend into the crater as our game drive with a picnic lunch is inside the crater. The Ngorongoro Crater is an immense, unbroken caldera that was formed when a volcano erupted millions of years ago. The elevated structure encourages the animals subside within the crater which means there is a high possibility of spotting every member of ‘The Big 5’. The powerful group comprises of buffalo, lions, rhinos, elephants. You can expect to see other wildlife including zebra, hippos, wildebeest and hyenas. The flamingos will lounge gracefully on the banks of the Soda Lake whilst the vultures can be found scavenging for the discarded prey of a predator. Your trip will come to an end in the late afternoon and we will proceed to Arusha town. Accommodation before and after your Safari in Arusha can be arranged on request
