We Kick-off this day with an early morning buffet breakfast then prepare all our gorilla trek gear; boots on and ready for the thrilling adventure as we get immersed in the jungle in search for the gentle giants. Our park guides will be ready at the entrance waiting for us to start off the scenic hike to the volcanoes in search of the gorillas, as you follow the trails and at some point, go off-trail amidst the bamboos to try to figure out any face. Upon meeting the gorillas, we are be allowed a period of an hour with these primates, as you take photos and watch the juveniles play about. The whole trekking can last 2 – 6 hours depending on the Gorilla movement that day. We later return back to our lodge, and lunch awaits us.
After lunch, there is an optional visit to The Gorilla Guardian Village is also known as the Iby’iwacu cultural Village which means “treasures of our home and heritage” The prime will immerse you into the culture of Rwanda. The nonprofit cultural village offers you the chance to try your hand at the wonders’ most famous crafts and activities. You will learn how to carry a basket on your head like the Rwanda women do, shoot an arrow and grind wines with a heavy stone. The enthusiastic guides make the entire experience feel like a big party and it is worth sticking around for the intro dance recitals at gorilla gardens village. The traditional dancers that are topped with long straw wigs and skirts pull on an exciting show to the beat of local Drums. The beauty of the Gorilla Guardians village is the fact that you participate in all activities which makes it hard for you to live on your own.
We later transfer back for dinner and overnight stay at our accommodation.
